  • Cook Time: 30 mins

This Recipe requires the following ingredients.

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 ¼ cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

I have mentioned the ingredients for 1 cake that can yield 12 servings.

Directions

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 175 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees F. Meanwhile, you can grease a cake mould or pan. To prepare the batter, you need a medium bowl with cocoa and then slowly pour boiling water. Whisk until smooth and then keep it aside for cooling. When the batter gets cold, add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  1. Now take another large bowl add cream butter and sugar and whisk it until it’s fluffy. Then beat in eggs and vanilla along with the flour and cocoa mixture that you prepared. Now spread the batter evenly around the pan that you had preheated.
  1. Now place the pan in the oven and bake it for 25-30 minutes.
  1. After 25-30 minutes check the cake by inserting a toothpick. Pull that toothpick out and if it comes out your cake is baked. But if there is any sticky substance on the toothpick it means you need to bake it for a few more seconds.
  1. Now allow the cake to cool down.
  1. Next, it’s time for frosting and it is one of my favourite things I do. For preparing frosting, add powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl and stir together. In another bowl add butter and whisk it until creamy. Now add the sugar cocoa powder to the butter and whisk until you get a thick consistency.
  1. The last and ultimate thing is to assemble your cake. You can give your cake various shapes, but I like it sweet and simple so I’ll keep it round as it came out of the mould. Cut the cake in two halves horizontally. Add the frosting on the lower part. Now place the upper portion of the cake and add the second layer of the frost. Make sure to spread it well and evenly on the top and sides of the cake.
  1. Decorating your cake can be a very relaxing part and every one of us can choose to decorate it differently. I like to sprinkle some chocolate chips. You can do it as you like it.

Number of Layers

Bas, it told you that you can choose to prepare the shape of the cake according to you, from adding multiple layers to your cake to adding different types of decorations. For multiple layers, you need to cut the cake horizontally in as many layers as you want. And you can add frost on each layer.

Freezing Instructions:

After frosting you can freeze your cake to set up the frosting and for getting a great taste. Freeze your cake for 1 hour before eating and you have the best ever Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe.
