Kaliyug is the Yug we humans currently live in. But did you know seven Chiranjivis also live with humans? Do you know 7 Chiranjeevi names? They are powerful, and due to their immense power, they sometimes do something beyond expectations. Due to deeds, blessings, and curses, they are immortal. 

The Chiranjeevi means “immortal”, and they are present in the world due to being immortal. Furthermore, they will be present in the world till the end of Kaliyug. But why are they present on earth when every god has existed? According to Ved Puraan, these Chiranjeevi will appear to fight Kali. 

Listing the 7 Chiranjeevi Names

You must have heard the names of these Chiranjeevi once in your life. These Chiranjeevi played an important role in the success of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The seven Chiranjeevi are Ashwathama, Bali, Vyas, Hanuman, Vibhisana, Krupacharya, and Parshurama. 

1. Ashwathama

Ashwathama is the son of Guru Dhronacharya, a teacher and warrior of the Pandavas. He played an important role in the Mahabharata, fighting between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. He was on the side of the Kauravas because Duryodhana was his best friend. He was the only one alive from the Kauravas side. 

One day, in the absence of Pandavas, he killed all the Upandavas, the son of Pandavas. He thought those were Pandavas. He did this to take revenge on his father and his best friend, Duryodhana. After the end of the war, when Pandava wins the fight, he decides to use his powerful weapon, “Brahmastra”, to kill Uttra’s unborn child. 

Moreover, Lord Krishna tried to stop him, but he could not. Later, Krishna cursed him with immense pain for the rest of his life, and Ashwathama has been immortal since then. 

2. Bali

Bali

Bali is also known as Mahabali. He is the grandson of Prahlad and the most powerful Chiranjeevi. He was blessed; he would get half of the opponent’s power if he fought with anyone. Ravan tried to fight with Bali but ended up losing, and Bali caught him in the shoulder for six months. 

But Bali’s self-importance was shattered when Lord Hanuman defeated him with only 10% of his power. His kingdom was in Kerala. He lives in Patala but comes to bless his devotees at the Onam festival every year. 

3. Ved Vyas

Ved Vyas is the author of the Mahabharata. Many people believe that he is Vishno’s avatar. However, he was born in the late Treta Yug and lived in Dwapar and Kali Yug. In addition to the Mahabharata, he wrote many plans. His mother was Satyavati, who later married the king Shantanu. 

Shantanu is also the father of Great Pitama in Mahabharat. It is important to note that Vyas was the son of Satyavati’s first husband. He promised to return whenever she needed it, as he had left everything for devotion. When Satyavati lost her second husband and two sons, she called Vyas. 

Vyas had three sons, with both of her daughters-in-law and their maids. He took the help of their Lord Ganesha to write the Mahabharat. Ganesha agreed with the condition that Vyas would explain the whole story. Vyas is still present between us and only appears at the end of Kalyug. 

4. Lord Hanuman

Lord Hanuman is the son of Kesari and Anjani. He was so powerful that he lifted a mountain to bring the Sanjeevani Booti (Ayurvedic medicine). He was an important part of Ramayan, as he went to Lanka to give the ring of Lord Rama to Mata Sita. Moreover, he, along with his Vanar Sena, fought against Ravan. He is Lord Rama’s favourite devotee.

He helped Lord Rama rescue Mata Sita from Ravan’s palace. When Lord Rama was going to abode, he blessed Hanuman with immortality. Also, he never married as he devoted himself to Lord Rama. He spent his life chanting, “Jai Shree Ram.” According to Hindu Mythology, he lives in the Gandhamadan mountains and roams in the forests and mountains of the Himalayas. 

5. Vibhishana

Vibhishana was the brother of Ravan. During the fight between Rama and Ravan, he was on the side of Lord Ram. He even provided clues on how to kill Ravan. Before taking the side of Rama, he insisted Ravan to bring Mata Sita back to Rama, but Ravan denied it. Despite being a rakshas, he considered himself Brahim and was religious, just like his father. 

After the war between Rama and Ravan ended, Vibhishan became the new king of Lanka. Vibhishan was enchanting the name of Lord when Lord Bramha appeared and granted him any wish. He did not ask any and replied, ‘I want to devote myself to my Lor’s feet’.  Due to his good Karma, he became immortal.

6. Krupacharya

When one considers the 7 Chiranjeevi names, his name comes first. Before Guru Dron, he taught Pandavas and Kauravas. He and his sister, Kripi, wife of Guru Dron, were adopted by King Shantanu. For his dedication and intelligence, he is the boon of immortality. He was among the few people alive after the fight between Pandavas and Kauravas. 

7. Parshurama

Parshurama

Parshuram was the teacher of the Great Pitama, son of Shantanu and Ganga. Of all the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu, he is the sixth one. He lived in the Dwapar Yug and played an important role in Devi Amba’s revenge. He is popular because of his devotion and martial arts. At the time of his birth, he was named Rama, but after getting the axe from lord Vishnu, he became Parshurama. He is immortal and waiting to end Kalyug to fight against Kali.

From childhood, we watched Mahabharata and Ramayana but never noticed some great, courageous heroes still alive. In this Kalyug, the heroes of Satyug, Tretayug and Dwaparyug are alive. The 7 Chiranjeevi names are Ashwathama, Bali, Ved Vyas, Lord Hanuman, Vibhishana, Krupacharya and Parshuram. They will all appear at the end of Kalyug to fight against Kali.
